Although this is an advanced training, participants do not need to be or feel advanced in their EFFT experience and skills in order to participate.. That said, participnts must have attended a 2 or 3-day core EFFT training offered by a trainer from the IIEFFT to ensure similar starting points.
An on-demand option is available here.
Training Description
A brief review of the theory and basics of EFFT will serve as a foundation for the training. Depending on time, interest and the flow of the training, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their skills and learn new techniques in the processing of blocks (minimum 2 of these options: caregiver fear-blocks, caregiver self-blame-blocks, client resistance to caregiver involvement and clinician blocks).
Individual therapy interventions from the will also be presented to support the transformation of 1. old pain / stuck resentment related to a primary caregiver, and 2. survival narratives of self-blame when caregiver involvement is not possible.
Learning will be supported using demonstrations, and options will be provided for participants to learn via videos and/or expanded experiential activities, including small group practice, depending on comfort. Some interventions presented will relate to the practice of psychotherapy, though the theory can apply to all participants, including non-therapists.
This advanced training is an excellent learning opportunity for clinicians of all types who work with individuals, parents and/or families in our community. Participants will learn techniques that can be integrated into existing treatment models for those clients & families for whom standard care is insufficient, despite everyone's best efforts.
Finally, we ask that participants with less exposure/experience with the implementation of EFFT review the following resources prior to the training dates:
1) This caregiver webinar with a review of emotion coaching and some caregiver blocks.
2) This handout with opportunities to practice scripting emotion coaching statements.
*A minimum 2 days prior training is required in EFFT by a trainer from the IIEFFT*. An on-demand option is available here and must be completed prior to the 1st day of Advanced training.
